Train the Trainers (TTT)
Being an expert does not mean being able to teach others. The programme prepares internal trainers and instructors to design and deliver training for adults – from needs analysis, through the training plan and group work, to evaluation. Three days of workshops and one day of training sessions recorded on video, with individual feedback.
Who it is for and what problem it solves
Knowledge stays with the experts
Experienced employees know everything but cannot pass it on to others.
Training that does not teach
Internal training is a slide lecture – participants take little away from it.
Onboarding new employees
On-the-job instruction takes a long time and the results depend on who is teaching.
No measurement
Nobody knows whether internal training has made a difference at work.
What participants practise
Designing training
- how adults learn – Kolb’s cycle
- needs analysis with HR and managers
- training plan, SMART goals, methods and trainer manual
- evaluation: Kirkpatrick levels, pre- and post-tests
Delivering training
- trainer communication: instructions, questions, feedback
- group dynamics, difficult participants, resistance
- presentation and flipchart
- the four steps of on-the-job instruction
Practice sessions
- each participant delivers part of a training session
- video recording
- individual feedback from the trainer and the group
